Review / Description: Released first on PC in March of 2002, Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast for GameCube has taken a full nine months to hit European shores. Is it worth the wait? Most definitely... Several years have passed since Kyle avenged his fathers death and saved the valley of the Jedi from Jerec. But in typical hero style, just as hes about to hang up his lightsaber and call it a day, a new threat to the galaxy calls him into service once more. Running on a superior game engine, Jedi Outcast is clearly one of the most accomplished single-player experiences available for the console, and the Star Wars theme, complete with lightsabers, is a touch of Lucas Arts magic. Graphically pleasing, with smooth animation, fabulous lightsaber motions, and wonderfully short loading times, Jedi Outcast is simply gorgeous to look at. So from a development standpoint, theres little to criticise. The same is true of the rest of the game. Wielding his very own legendary weapon, Kyle can attack enemies and deflect laser shots. As he progresses through the game, he becomes more proficient with his lightsaber and can even deflect shots back where they came from. Its just a matter of patience and practice. Kyle is aware of the light and dark sides of the force but you must choose which path he follows. Naturally, the decision you make will affect the abilities and skills that he possesses or can attain in forthcoming conflicts. Kyle can use the force to increase his jump, push heavy objects, confuse his enemies, heal himself, increase his speed, use lightning attacks, pull objects, and choke. Its all in a days work for a console adventure, and Jedi Outcast does it with ease. Its a great addition to the GameCube portfolio, and something Rogue Leader followers can sink their Jedi Knight teeth into.
